Blue Ox recommends a check and servicing every 10,000 miles. We get ours done at the Quartzsite RV show or a similar event by the Blue Ox team that attends the RV shows. It costs $30 to have them do it. At Quartzsite you take your tow system to their service tent but at most large RV shows you book the service at their booth and they come right to your rig to do the servicing there.

You are definetly overdue for some TLC on your tow bar. Here is a video on the subject that might help.
The other alternative is to send it back to BO for service. I had concerns with mine after a trip to Alaska so I called them and made arrangements to return the whole assembly. Turns out the knuckle was kaput. To make a long story short, they rebuilt it with a new knuckle assembly back to New Condition for about $200 US. They did provide shipping on the return but only to a US address. Since I live next to the border, I had it shipped to Orovile to a freight forwarding co. and picked it up from there.
As mentioned by the other posts, they attend RV shows in the US so if you spend the winter south, that's an option also.

Bruexx,
Well, one thing here. It all depends on your capabilities, tools and equipment. Extension tow bars are about as simple as things come. There's a few moving parts, some nylon shims, a couple of spring loaded locks and, that's about it. I've had two versions of Blue Ox bars apart. One, the Aladdin and the other one, the Aventa II. They're basically the same exact tow bar but, one is aluminum and one is steel.
They came apart the same exact way. Once they're apart, you can inspect all the pivot points, stress points etc. The shim kit, which is what mostly gets replaced at the RV events is around $19.00-$20.00 or so. They're not complicated at all. But, most don't want to mess with them, they just have it done at the shows.

We took ours back to the Blue Ox factory in Pender, Nebraska for a refurbishing. While they were working on it they found several problems and offered us a choice of repairs or replacement with a great discount. We chose a replacement and have been happy with that.
BTW, their factory offer a interesting tour and they have an actual campground with hookups for Blue Ox owners.

Best of all the campground is free - new visitor center building should be open by now - we were there 5 months ago
