I purchased my Blue-Ox Tow Bar, Base Plate and Patriot Braking System from

RV Parts, RV Accessories RV Supplies Priced Low

They had the best prices I could find at the time.

I just ordered, but have not yet received, a Blue Ox base plate from Amazon. Discounted price as well as no tax and free shipping. I also plan on ordering the Aventa LX tow bar along with the cable, cover, etc from them as well once I get the base plate installed. I shopped around and Amazon seemed to have about the lowest cost. And they are good to deal with.

Blue Ox on line purchase

Re the tow bar cover---I normally stow my tow bar on the rear of the MH and purchased a cover to protect it. However, I promptly found that the cover was not sufficiently large in diameter to use it without removing the umbilical core and safety cables, which is a distinct negative. I solved the problem by purchasing sufficient vinyl material and finding a shoe repair shop that would sew it as I desired . The end product easily slipped over the tow bar including the 3 cables and the end closed with a bungy cord. I din not keep track of the cost, but I believe it was less then purchasing it from Blue Ox. Waterdog

I know nothing about towbars, but it appears Blue Ox has several different models, priced from about $300 to about $1000.

I have had excellent service from various products purchased from Amazon.com, eTrailer.com and PPLmotorhomes.com PPL is in Houston, plus they have a satellite location in New Braunfels, so you'll probably have to pay sales tax if you're in Texas.

Looking for the base plate for a 2008 Trailblazer, the PPL website popped up the answer immediately, whereas some other on-line retailers got lost.

If you already know exactly which model numbers and parts you need, then you can order from the source with the cheapest price. But if you are not an expert, then I'd order from PPLmotorhomes.

Don't forget Ebay. I got one there (LX towbar) with free shipping that was at least $50 less than the best internet price I could find.
God luck and safe travels!

Keeping iRV2.com the best that it can be is due in part to the participation of our sponsors. Bill Rowell from www.rvupgrades.com is the iRV2.com founder and still maintains a great relationship with iRV2 members.

RVUPG can provide the full line of Blue Ox products and you can ask them any type of question about the equipment. Service after the sale is also one of their strong suits as well. Give Bill's company a call!

From the OP - I used RVupgrages and had a wonderful informative experience to get the toad completed. Got the base plate, toebar, cables 4 diode wiring, 3 match keyed pins etc. Did all work myself except paid a body shop $20 to pull the grill and bumper plastic facia off the first time so I could see how to put it back on. All those little plastic plugs. clips, rivits etc. can be a challenge if you do not know where they are located and that was my biggest worry on the whole job. I needed the optional 3" longer stinger (Aladdin) so they simply contacted BlueOx and had them drop ship everything which came within 3 days at no shipping cost. Went in as instructed no problems - done.

Hats off to BlueOx & RVUpgrades
