Blue Ox pig tail insulation cracking, anyone else?

Gents,
We use the blue, (I'm pretty sure it's a Blue Ox one 'cause it came with the tow bar when I bought it) curly-cued pig tail. I have no idea how old it is because we purchased the tow bar, pig tail, safety cables, tow bar cover and a couple other odds and ends, all at one time, off ebay.

But, for the last couple of years, the leading section from the motor home plug, has been cracking the blue insulation to the point that you can see all the 5 or 6 wires in there. So, I simply have some wazzooo rubber tape that I've wrapped that pig tail with, to re-secure that insulation. But, it keeps traveling farther and farther into the coils. I have to keep catching up with it, wrapping things up on a periodic basis.

Just wondering, has anyone else's curly cued pig tail showed that kind of stress or, has been cracking that insulation? Not a real big deal but, just wondering.
Scott

Thanks for the replies guys. I kind-a figured the "self" damage on this pig tail was a sporadic type thing. It maybe doesn't happen to many. The cable wiring is still good, no problem there. It's only the outer blue shell/insulation that's the problem. So, I figure I'll just wrap the entire thing with a couple of rolls of electrical tape. If that get's too ugly, then it's time for a new one.
