Blue Ox tow bracket on Jeep Wrangler

When I bought my 2001 Sahara new the Blue Ox brackets bolted to the bottom of the front bumper through into the frame and sold for around $125. Now the one Blue Ox is selling also bolts to the side of the frame and sells for around $325.

Mine has two grade 8 bolts into the frame and two through the bumper. I've been told with just these 4 bolts holding the bracket to the bottom of the bumper it's possible for these bolts to shear off during a hard bounce or jolt. I've been using this arrangement for 10 years and over 60,000 miles without any problems.

Is anyone else using this simpler bracket and no problems or have you changed brackets or had one break?

I use the really cheap blue ox brackets. $52!

They bolt to a rock crusher bumper made of 3/16" steel, which in turn bolts to the frame.
Cheap, simple, and strong.

No way i'd hang anything on jeep's stock sheet metal bumper.
