Couple questions come to mind,

- Have you talked to BlueOx for their opinion?

- What is the running angle of the tow bar when you're hooked up on level ground? Hard to really tell from your photo but it does not appear to me that the weld was faulty.

I had similiar experiance with Adventa. Lucky it broke when pulling away from gas pump. On mine the yoke broke, and it was 4 years and about 15000 miles. Out of warrany they did give me an RV dealer that could order the parts for me. Was disappointed the way it was handled. I thought they could have at least sold and sent me the parts I needed, instead of sending me off to a dealer miles away.

How long's the warranty for?

I have 2 Aventas: 14 and 8 years old. Just got another one to retire the 14ner. Mine have been fine. How much was the part?

Wonder the life span of this tow bar? 4 yrs and 15k miles isn't much at all.

Another question, does your 4,000 lb Jeep have toad braking system?

Wow! My Falcon II just developed a problem on my last trip. One of my ROD ENDS froze up due to rust. I got it off and soaked in penetrating oil for a few days and re-installed it. It is working fine but I worried about weakning of the threads so I ordered two ROD ENDS and a completed repair kit for the hitch. I will be installing the kit in a few days so I will check any weak areas. It is rated at 6K and I am pulling 4K.

I think I just read another thread of a Blue Ox failure. I am a little afraid to order a new hitch since I might get Chinese steel. My hitch is pretty old and the main weight components are in good condition.

I'm thinking the yoke was the most, if memory serves around $ 60.00 for new yoke shims, and new bolt. The yoke is cast, and as a friend explained to me, if not shimmed properly the slightest stress when tightening the bolt could make the yoke fail (break). It was that way when I bought it.( meaning the only maintence I did was clean and lube under the rubber boots.) We installed the new parts , being careful with the shims. I did replace it about a year later with the new style Aventa. Just another learning curve, I now really look while setting up!!! FYI my toad at the time was an HHR

I would be sending those pictures and a bunch more to the Dept of Transportation. That weld job looks like crap with all that rust around it

Looks like you have the KarGard II also. I have a Blue Ox system. I'm thinking I should have stayed with Demco.

You need to send the pictures to Blue Ox and give them a call. If the rust was there just after the break then I would think the hitch had been in failure mode for some time. If the rust was not present right after the failure then I would suspect a faulty weld. Again you need to talk to Blue Ox, they are a reputable company, and give them a chance to respond.
Keep us informed on the outcome.

Have you weighed your Jeep Wrangler?
The Acclaim tow bar is rated at 5000 lbs.
A 2014 Jeep Wrangler weight is 3,879 to 4,921 lbs depending on options.
Assuming max factory weight of the Jeep plus fuel and any personal items the Jeep weight may have exceeded the ratted capacity of the Acclaim tow bar.

Your picture of the part that broke appears to be the same part as the Aladdin tow bar. The Aladdin is ratted for 7,500.

Please post your experience with Blue Ox.

My Blue Ox was also not the best tow bar in the world. This was an Aladdin that was at the end of it's life expectancy of ten years. I switch to one that has a lifetime warranty when Blue Ox did not even offer as much as "we're sorry, is everything OK"?

I just replaced my 10+ year old Blue Ox Aventa because it wasn't that much more than the parts that were showing wear. Most of the time we towed a 5000+ Jeep Grand Cherokee.
