Brackets?

This is what came with the MH. Are the brackets in front of the tow bar base plates?

Is your car set up to tow? The "base plates" are what actually bolts to the frame of the car and distributes the towing forces. (I think some Jeep set ups just go to the bumper because of the way the Jeep is put togehter.)

Basically you have what you need to attach to tow plates.

What vehicle are you trying to tow? Each car model/year has a custom designed 'base plate' that bolts to the frame, underpinnings of the front end of your car. As 2912N said, some Jeeps and maybe a few others have brackets or bumpers that can be used as a base plate. You might check these links to see if your equipment looks like a proper base plate for your towed.

That is a Roadmaster tow system. The two small brackets are what attaches to the base plates bolted to the car. It's identical to mine.

What I don't know is if the cross bar that hooks to the brackets is length specific. Go here and see if they offer base plates for your vehicle.Roadmaster Tow Bar Mounting Brackets / Base Plates

I had a '97 Jeep GC with the RoadMaster setup. When we got the new '05 Ody in Dec '04 I contacted RoadMaster and they used our Ody as a mule to test fit the brackets. The Jeep crossbar would not fit on the Ody brackets, the bar was too short so they gave me a new one to fit.
