I would just order the breakway switch from BlueOx... It's cheap and easy. I mounted mine on my (aftermarket steel) front bumper, then routed the wire through a rubber plug that was already in my Jeep Wrangler's firewall. Then on the inside of the Jeep, the plug looks like a simple 1/8" headphone jack and it plugs into the port on the top of the Patriot. Plug it in before turning it on and when the Patriot goes through it's regular setup, it will recognize that there is a breakaway switch plugged in, test it, and then use it.
You can also manually test the breakaway yourself by yanking out the pin, which is what would happen in an emergency break-away situation. I recommend that you do this just so that you verify it works and can see it with your own eyes.
