Dumb question from a newbie: have a new e450 c-class RV, hooked up a new Master Tow car dolly to the factory installed hitch and lights all work. Need a brake box for the electric brakes, but don't know if the truck is pre-wired. There is a flat 8-pin looking connector mounted under the dash directly below the steering column- would this by chance be a brake box connector?

Appreciate the help with such a dumb question.

I believe what you are looking at is the ODB II, this is located under the dash by the steering column. This is not a break box but rather your port to plug in a CODE reader if your check engine light comes on.

If your E-450 does have a factory brake box you would find information in your owners manual. Hope this helps.

Don't believe the cut aways have a "brake box" at least when I bought mine in 2007. I bought a Master Tow with surge brakes for that reason.

Here is what I learned: my MH was prewired for the electric brake box by Forest River. The wires were up behind the dash board - not easily found. I just plugged in the brake controller and viola, electric brakes on the dolly work!

While we were at it, also changed the female plug on the hitch to one that has both the round 7 and a flat 4 connection. I bought magnetic lights for the toad so I can now run them and have the dolly plugged in simultaneously.

Ready to go next week. Cant wait.
