Brake Buddy/Equinox

So I buy this used BB to begin towing our Equinox. Everything works great on the test in the driveway. Several days later we begin FTing. We're already to go and hooked up. I pull #32 fuse which kills the acc plug. (Yes I didn't do the initial test with the fuse pulled, dah).

So, I assume those with an Equinox knows of an easy way to correct this?

I'm figuring I will need to run a charge wire back to the car anyway since that battery isn't going to last that long running that pump. While I'm on this subject, anyone know how long it will last and can the car be towed with the fuse not pulled?

Since I'm on the road now with no brakes, looking for anything until I can do a proper job. Thanks.

First, the compressor of the BB shouldn't run that often if you have the unit set properly. Second, contact BB, they will send you a 12VDC receptacle that can be wired seperately (like directly from the battery) to be dedicated to the BB usage. This will solve still pulling fuse #32. JM2¢...

I towed a 04 Wrangler around for many years without needing a charge wire to keep the battery from going dead. Your BB by itself won't run the battery down in a day unless you have the sensitivity set really high, and then you'll probably burn the brakes before the battery. Running another 12VDC outlet from the battery is a fairly easy thing to do, and will solve your fuse #32 problem.

We use a Roadmaster Brake Pro in our Equinox. It's similar to the Brake Buddy. Occasional running of the compressor is not enough to draw down the battery on a full day's run.

The 12V outlet all the way in the back of the Equinox is hot all the time. Get an extension wire and plug your Brake Buddy into that. Or do like I did and install a new 12V outlet under the dash that is hot all the time. There are a couple of blank fuse holders in the fuse box on the passenger side where you can get power. Be sure to install an in-line fuse holder.

I just finished installing a new receptical that is hot all the time. Since the Equinox should be started at each stop, that should keep the battery topped off. BB said they would mail me a kit free, but we are on the road. Got what I needed at a local auto parts store.
