Brake Buddy with Cool Tech harness on Jeep JK?
Hi, I am going to install the Cool Tech wiring harness on our 2012 Jeep JK which I intend to tow behind my motorhome. The Cool Tech harness is a plug and play that will give you lights on the Jeep. Can I plug in and use my Brake Buddy on my Jeep, or will I now have 24 volts in the 12 volt outlet?

There is no way you will have 24v in the system period. Who told you that? I use the Cooltech harness but not a brake buddy. You'll be fine, no worries

I heard that on the Jeep forum, and I didn't think it was right. 
When the Brake Buddy is plugged in, and will activate the brake pedal, will the 12 volts feed back into the Motorhome's 12 volt system? Sorry for the confusion.

Towed a 2002 Wfor several wrangler for several years and I used the cool tech harness and a brake buddy. When i sold the jeep a few months ago, I removed the harness and installed it in my Dodge dakota. Works great with my brake buddy

Check the instructions with your cool tech harness..or go to their site...will explain what you need to do. In my 08 I pull the fuse for the brake lights and the main fuse for the dash functions...your Jeep may have less to pull.

I also pull the "M1" fuse and lift the IOD fuse on my 07. It has a steering lock so I have to leave the key in ACC position.

On the 2012 Jeep, no fuse pulling or key in the ignition. The CoolTech harness works like a charm...plug and play.

Sarah, MtnD and others....I just received an email response from CoolTech regarding this issue (BTW, CoolTech has been VERY responsive in the two instances where I've sent them questions via email). CoolTech says that regardless of whether you need to unlock the column (i.e. new jeep vs older jeep), you will still need to disconnect the battery or pull the brake fuse. The issue, according to CoolTech, occurs when you are braking AND have the turn signal on. The MH will send a flashing turn signal through the CoolTech harness during this condition, but the Jeep will send a brake light only signal during this condition (b/c the Jeep doesn't 'know' the MH signal indicator is on). The result is a solid brake light on the jeep that is not flashing. Now once you've slowed to a speed that your braking device of choice is no longer activing the jeep's brakes, this condition will go away and the jeep's light will flash. Soooo, my long winded post is just to simply say CoolTech's recommendation is to disconnect the battery or pull the brake fuse even on newer jeeps like mine (2011).
Hope this helps. Note: I have not yet completed my installation of CoolTech and ReadyBrute.....so I'm only basing the above on information provided by CoolTech (but I have little reason to doubt them).

Bryan--thanks, but I believe that is only true if the RV uses the same tail lights for brake and blinker. Our moho has separate red brake lights and amber turn signals. No fuse pulling required.

Sarah, I see what you're saying, but since the jeep does NOT have separate turn signals, dont the MH separate signals get combined at the MH trailer plug? The true test would be for you to turn the MH signal on, get in the jeep and step on the brake, and then see if the signal indicator goes solid. (I could be all wrong here!)

Bryan--I must apologize. My hubby informed me that the CoolTech installation included a battery disconnect.  The biggest annoyance with using that is the loss of cellphone pairing and radio presets. Sorry for the mis-information.
By the way, the CoolTech/ReadyBrute setup is great and you won't be sorry you bought it.

Sarah, thx for the clarification.
For anyone wondering, the cooltech battery cutoff is VERY easy to install. 5 minutes tops. Even if I don't end up needing it, I'll consider it worth it just to be able to quickly disconnect the battery when working on other aspects of the jeep.

Bryan, we're on the road so I haven't had time to respond, so appreciate the posts in this subject. I have no intention of disconnecting the battery so u think I need to pull the brake fuse on my 2012 Rubicon to not cause 12 bolt feedback into the MH?
Keep up the good work and let us know when you get this installed and tested. Thanks again.
