Interesting. Your profile says you have a 2017 Thor Freedom Elite. Some etrailer posts (
here's a link to one) indicate that Thor may have altered the Ford dashboard and it wiring such that a plug-an-play controller will not work.
I like plug-and-play. It's fast, allows for replacement without rewiring, and is easier for the next owner to use. I recommend not cutting into the Ford wiring until you've absolutely determined it's necessary.
Ordinarily you would find the trailer electric brake controller connector (for your 2016/7 E-series cutawaychassis) attached to the rear of the coin tray in the dash. See these posts for details:
