Brake vacuum leak

After a 3.5 hour drive, we stopped to unhitch the toad and found the car batter was dead. After a jump start, the battery was OK. Turns out there is a leak in the vacuum system that caused the SMI brake to cycle every couple of minutes for the 3.5 hours. This was too much for the 5 year old battery. Now I need to find out where the leak is. I really don't want to drive without the brake. The battery had a 84 month warranty but got a new one anyway.

Checked out the vacuum lines and found the quick disconnect on the SMI brake was falling off. The connector was loose when fully connected. After playing with it, I was finally got the connector tight enough to reduce the leak enough to hopefully not kill the car battery again. Will call SMI to see if they have a better connector.

I had a similar dead battery problem caused by the on-off cycling of the SMI Plug 'n Play. My problem turned out to be a vacuum leak in the short piece of hose connecting the one-way check valve to the T-connector. Swapped out the hose and the system was vacuum tight.
