Braking system for towed vehicle
we have a 2008 Winnebago View and are going to tow a 2 door 1998 Chevy Tracker.
Looking for an easy to set up, yet safest (of course) braking system for our towed vehicle.
Any suggestions?

SMI makes one for Diesel and another for Gas. I have the SMI Air Force One for Diesel, and love it. I simple hook up an air line between the coach and the toad, sure a lot nicer than one of those that sits between the seat and the pedals.

Opinions will differ, I use ready brake and am satisfied or happy with that choice. I didn't care for brake buddy because I had to install and remove the brake control box often.

When we tow our 2900# Scion I don't worry about it. The 4800# Explorer, we use a Blue Ox Patriot.

I have a Brake Buddy, because I have two toads. But I can install it in about three minutes, and take it out in less then a minute. Not a big hassle at all.

We have a Suzuki Vitara (2000). We use a RVI2 brake system. Light weight, easy to set up, works great.

Another vote for the ReadyBrake/ReadyBrute system because of the price and ease. We've towed using it first with our A and now with our Navion. Great system.

Agree, if you have more than one vehicle as we do this is a good solution

Been using an SMI Stay n Play in my 2002 tracker for 10 years. Works great.

We've been using the Brake Buddy for a number of years. It works well and I can put it in and take it out in no time.

Here's a vote for the Blue Ox Patriot braking system. It's portable, very lightweight, the brake pedal clamp snaps on and off, and setup takes a whole minute, (or two), at the push of a button.
It's also a no-brainer to move between toad vehicles, (Jeep Liberty, Lincoln MKZ), and the wireless remote is tiny and very easy to just plug in to a 12v outlet at the motorhome's cockpit.

Another vote for the RVI2 system. It's very compact, easy to set up and works great.

You'll probably get as many recommendations as you get replies.
My vote is for NSA Readybrute. Mechanical and easy to setup.
The initial installation isn't that hard if you don't mind crawling about under your toad and drilling a hole in the firewall.
It's all mechanical and as simple and reliable as you can get.
But that's just my opinion.

Another vote for the ReadyBrute Elite! One thing I don't see mentioned when talking about the ReadyBrute is how easy it would be to use with more than one vehicle. All you have to do is buy a second set of cables for the ReadyBrake and ReadyStop and install it in the extra vehicle, at minor expense, along with the base plate, and you're ready to roll.
