Break-away switch wire on Honda CRV

I just got a 2014 Honda CRV toad and I am looking for ideas on where to route the break-away switch wire through the firewall to my BrakeBuddy. It's a pretty crowded area and tough to avoid hitting something unseen on the other side of the firewall if I drill a hole. I am contemplating running the wire through the grommet/boot of the main wiring harness from the engine to the dash board.

I would probably do as you described. Either along with the other wires, or drilling/punching a small hole through the rubber flange part of the grommet. Also look at the area where the steering column goes through the firewall.

I just ran mine in my 2008 civic thru the grommet where the hood latch cable goes thru the foot panel area. BTW, I use an RVI brake system and found out the hard way that you can add a new plug on the end IF for some reason you pull it off (I did that). There are 2 wires and it doesn't make any difference how you reconnect the 2.

Update -- I did use the steering wheel grommet to run my break-away switch wire through the firewall. Thanks to Bigd9 and Randy125 for the suggestion. BrakeBuddy recommends direct wiring from the BrakeBuddy unit to the battery on CR-Vs, so I also used the steering wheel grommet to pass this wiring through the firewall.
Since Honda recommends pulling a fuse (easier said than done) when towing, I made my own fuse by-pass switch for about $10 by wiring a toggle switch into a fuse holder/connector.
