I found a used Roadmaster Sterling on my local Craigslist for $200. Owner says its in great shape and barely used... about 5 years old and hasn't been used in the last 3.

Any cautions to check for on a used tow bar?

I bought my Bue Ox tow bar thru Craigs list and very happy with it, the previous owner said he didn't like it because it was hard to disconnect and bought another brand. I took a gamble and after figuring out how it works, it has worked real well, and disconnects easily. Look for any cracks at the mounting points, check the pins for excessive play, if they have not been properly lubricated it wears the holes out.

Then attend a large rally, e.g. an FMCA national or regional rally, where Roadmaster has a booth. They will inspect and service the tow bar for you free of charge. Will replace seals and any defective parts too.
