Calling 2014 Toyota Keyless ignition owners w/Dolly

There has to be more than one owner of the 2014 Toyota Carolla that has the keyless ignition on it.

I'm trying to find out how to keep the steering wheel unlocked with the keyless ignition. Mine will time out after 20 mins and lock back up.

Thanks !!

Ken

Push button highlander

Our dolly has a pivoting tray so the steering lock doesn't matter. I'd talk to the dealership to see if they can program a change if you need it. They have a lot of options they can change through programming. I hope this helps.

I have to place vehicle on dolly, leave in neutral and hit power button. Turn off radio and turn off nav screen. The alarm will be a constant chime as you close the door. Go over to passenger door and open and close. Chime turns off. Strap her down and go. Wasn't sure if it worked the first time so I used face time between my phone ( pointed at steering wheel) and my wife's phone ( in the rv). Watched the steering wheel turn for a 3 hour trip. Been confident with my procedure after that. The van I believe goes into a sleep mode. Have travelled up to 8 hours like this without turning on and have never had an issue with the battery.

Thanks to all for posting !!

Well, I got off my lazy butt and did some testing.

I rolled down the window in the toad after pushing the start button once to put it in the accessory mode. It is designed to shut down after 20 minutes in the acc mode. I then closed the door, double checking that the wheel was unlocked.

I returned an hour later and found that it did time out as none of the accessory lights were lit.

Reaching in through the open window, I found that the steering wheel was still unlocked even though all else was shut down. Once the door is opened and closed after that, the steering wheel once again locks.

So I guess that is the secret. As long as the door isn't opened once you exit the vehicle, it will remain unlocked.

Maybe someone else down the line will find this info.

Ken
