Can I tow either an auto Hyundai or 2wd Jeep??

We went on our first trip and the wife insists on having a second vehicle. She did not like being "stranded" at the camp site. I have not been able to find any information on whether or not I can flat tow a 2003 Hyundai Elantra automatic. Anyone know?

I also have access to a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, 2 wheel drive with a manual tranny. Is that towable?

I would prefer the Hyundai as it is nicer and a lot lighter than the Jeep.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If your owners service manuals don't answer your question, Call your local Hyundai and Jeep Dealers and ask if your vehicle is towable 4 wheel down.
If they are not, check/call to see if they can be towed using the REMCO. Remco Drive Shaft Disconnect | Application Chart

We were told up front by the dealer no 4 down towing with an automatic Hyundai Elantra when we bought our 2011. We tow our Elantra Touring with AT on an Acme EZE-tow dolly. It tows great. You have to put it in neutral and leave the key in accessory mode to keep the steering wheel unlocked. The wheels are strapped and safety chains are in place when towing so no problems there. I usually stop every 2 to 3 hours for 15 minutes or so to rest and I start the car to keep the battery charged. I think you can pull the accessory fuse or get a battery disconnect but I never have looked into either. Our Touring Edition sits really low and the EZE-tow with portable Rhino ramps works well. I've read on the forum that some tow dollys with fixed ramps can rub the undercarriage on some smaller cars and cause problems. You might want to check that out before deciding on a dolly.

I know this is a lot of information but if you want to tow the Elantra with AT these are things you need to know.

I don't think you would have any problems 4 down with the jeep.

Good Luck,
WM

According to this guide, your '03 Hyundai automatic is NOT towable:
