Canyon/Colorado Connections (electrical, air, breakaway)

I have the tow bars, brake light wiring, battery disconnect, braking system (air), and breakaway system installed on my 2017 Canyon — EXCEPT I haven’t permanently installed the connections for electrical, air, and breakaway connections.

I was hoping some of you who have Canyons or Colorados would be willing to share some pics of your installation. I need some ideas on how to best mount these connections. The only picture I’ve seen is on eTrailer, and apparently they mounted the connections to the plastic air dam (am I missing something?) which seems flimsy. They also mounted the electrical connector right in the middle, where my collision detection sensor is currently located.

Thanks in advance. [emoji6]

I mounted my breakaway and electrical connector there as well, but I braced them in a way that doesn't make major modifications.

For the breakaway switch, I added a plastic block (McMaster Carr Item # 9542K652, Antistatic UHMW Bar, 3" X 1 Foot X 1-1/2") and a rear 90 degree bracket. I made a wraparound piece to attach the breakaway switch to the UHMW bar that was cut to the correct size. I also drilled through the block. I then mounted the block to the air dam and used the 90 degree bracket to brace to the metal bumper. This not only braces the switch, but it places it higher to clear the painted surface and I don't have any contact when I connect the cable.

For the electrical connector, I did brace the connection in the same (or similar) way that etrailer did it. However, I do hold it firm when I plug in because there still is some flex in the setup. I bought the other bracket kit so I had the 90 bracket down that could go into the metal bumper. You can see the two screws for the electrical connector attached to the metal bumper above. If I remember correctly, there is also adhesive between the bracket and the plastic dam.

Is that the Blue Ox? I have the Roadmaster, which simply replaces the tow hooks so there is no built in capability to mount the other components.

Looks like you used some spacers to raise them up over the bumper cover. I did the same thing.

Totally stole your idea! Used the info from your post to order it. Did the same with the air connector, too.

Thanks again for the ideas!
