Car Hauler

I have a question about driving a jeep into a car hauler, I am looking at purchasing an 8.5 X 18 enclosed car hauler trailer with dual 5,200 LB axels. I comes with a drop down ramp with flap. Did you have to do anything to the ramp like a upgrade to a heaver ramp to drive the jeep up into the trailer, I know I can ask the dealer, but I would prefer to hear from someone from the board that uses a car hauler on how they do it.

The dealer might know what trailer you have, I don't!

A little more info might help.

In my post I had that the trailer was a 8.5 X 18 enclosed car hauler, are you talking about the brand of the trailer other than the brand I don't know what other information I can provide. Thanks for your post anyway

Brand and model. Mine was made by A local welding shop to my specs. So I cant expect anyone, other than them and I to know anything.

The dealer would be your best bet for this information. He should have access to the weight the ramp will carry as well as the GVW on the trailer itself.
If he doesn't give you a satisfactory answer I'd cancel the deal and go elsewhere.

If it is a true car hauler, I'm sure the ramp is rated to support whatever vehicle it was intended to haul - otherwise you couldn't get the vehicle in the trailer until it was modified. But to be sure, you should check with the mfr to see what the rating is.

BTW - I've never seen a car hauler that could not be used because the ramp wouldn't support the weight of a vehicle that the trailer was capable of carrying.

Appreciate all the post, this is the trailer that I am looking at Specials : All of our 8.5 Wides are Heavy Duty Car Haulers, with tie downs ready for towing your car. | USA Cargo Trailer Sales When I talked to the sales person he said the max weight on the ramp would be 3,000 pds.

Sure the ramp max is only 3000 lbs, but you will not have more than one axle weight on it at a time. So unless you have a very heavy weight on front axle, you should be good. Although you could reinforce it to make it stronger once you have the trailer.

When I ordered mine (Different company) the dealer could order extra reinforcement and required it if you added more than 1' height. I believe 3000+ was the number I saw but again that depends on how tall the trailer is. Taller means a longer door/greater span.
If your pulling behind a MH you should extend the tongue mine was ordered at 5'
BTW you gave plenty of info a 10,000lb trailer with 18' box If it is truly a car hauler your jeep certainly fits the description and weight limits for most Big name players
edit
According to the specs on the web site your fine it says 4500 lbs
