Hello all,
we are looking to buy a lightweight aluminum car hauler to pull behind our Allegro Open Road (gas). Any recommendations on types and brands of trailers? Our car weighs about 4100 lbs, but isn't towable 4 down. The trailer will need to be very lightweight.

Thanks

When I looked for a car hauler to tow behind my 35ft Itasca Ford, I went with a steel trailer, not a big difference in weight, and quite a bit cheaper. Traler weighs about 2000lbs. The car is a 2900lb Pontac Soltice. I have pulled it a couple times fromCt to Fla.

I think you are going to have a problem with weight. Your coach is rated at no more than 5000# gross tow weight. With a 4100# car that leaves 900# for the trailer. I have never seen a dual axle trailer under 1500# that was strong enough to handle your car's weight. Also you need to calculate your gross combined vehicle weight.

MH + Car + Trailer = GCVW Which on an Allegro Open Road is around 24000#

How about a tow dolly. What kind of car are you pulling if it's a front wheel drive and sometimes I have even seen rear wheel drives on Dolly's if it fits Greg

Thanks to all, we are re-grouping on this because of trailer weight. We may just have to buy a good used car for our toad or trade our car for a car that can be towed.
