Looking for a way to carry two bikes, preferably on hitch attached to the draw bar between the MH and the tow car. Blue Ox shows two, a standard and a longer version. Any comments appreciated...thanks.

Got my 3 bike carrier off Amazon, Easy installation on hitch,quick removal, lock capability . Amazon and search hitch bicycle carrier. Good luck.

Spend the money for a good one... I only carry one bike and I bought a cheap one from Harbor Freight... wish I hadn't. Half a dozen bungee cords and I can finally keep it on and not bouncing all over the place.

We sometimes carry two bikes but I bought a hitch receiver carrier and place them on the tow that way when we are camped and want to ride trails somewhere else they are ready.

We have a Thule 4-bike carrier on our hitch and it's been great. But, I don't have a tow bar, so don't know if it would work on it. My Thule is over 6 years old and still works great.

You'd be way better off to purchase folding bikes (KHS makes the best ones)
and store them in the basement, or in your toad. Bikes behind the coach get filthy and nasty, especially in the rain, especially with a DP.
And they spend too much time in the elements, not good.

I don't know about the dp's, but we cover the bikes with an extra large grill cover, and bunjee it over them. They may not remain pristine, but they aren't getting wet. But we just don't have the space in the rig for the bikes. It works well for the four of us.

I use a swagman, two bike rack on the hitch of the toad. Easy on and off, no additional bungee cords necessary.

Also, I use a large grill to cover them when traveling, works fine.

Sure like the swagman, the ease of use. I also use the bike locks to secure them.

Swagman two bike rack on the hitch I installed on our Honda CR-V works great. Installs in seconds and easy. Most of the time we do not remove the bikes from the toad when using it and this is no problem. And, it is nice to have the bikes with you if you want to use them.

We use a rack on the toad too. Be aware that if you put a bike rack on the hitch *between* the MH and the toad it reduces the towing capacity of the MH hitch. We like having the rack on the toad instead. That way we can take the bikes around at our destination.

There are many such hitches, Roadmaster and Blue-Ox sell them mine is a Draw-Tite.

They come in basically 3 formats

Mine is designed to bolt under a hitch ball (more on this later) or bolt to a "Tong" for ball hitch in stead of the ball.

Some have a 2" ADAPTER ALREADY ATTACHED

Some have a hinge system so they fold down for ease in loading and unloading

Some are designed to mount "Over" the excess 2" Bar of a tow bar system (This is what you need)

In my case.. I have a modified drop hitch.. Blue-Ox custom made it for me.. It is a 4" drop receiver with "Tong" welded to the top of it for the bike rack. Works great.

We've used the Blue Ox 3 bike rack and a bike cover from "Champion" that zips to protect the bikes quite well. The bikes travel with the hitch attached to the coach. I also bought a second hitch adapter so I can easily move the rack between the coach and the toad if we need to cart the bikes somewhere to ride.

Personally I sure wouldn't give up my bike in favor of anything which could be folded and stowed in a storage bay.

OH one other things......

I saw, and then built a PVC frame... I will give you the details

It is a PVC retangle. with two additinal PVC pipes in the middle it is in the form of an "H" with dual horozontal bars and additinal bars top and bottom.

The center bars are spaced to be gripped by the bike rack

And cloths line between the "Uprights"

There is a very handy spot to store it inside my MH, and it comes in handy when I take the bike down for drying towles and swim suites and such.

we purchased our swagman 2 bike carrier from camping world and use it with a dual hitch extender from harbor freight. we dolly tow a nissan altima. both the carrier and hitch extender work well with 2 hitch immobilizer devices installed. i use the road master but recommend something like the blue ox immobilizers. bx 88224
