Hi Winniman,

I often thought that the back of toad would be a great place for a 22.5 MH spare wheel and tire.

Sill in vacation mode, we load the CR-V with everything for the trip - cooler, clothes, dog support etc. Then we drive to the RV, hook up and go without unloading. We'd drive all day and at camp we'd do the transfer. Also gave the fridge time to get cool. On the way back we reverse the process and the toad would be empty. With retirement in a month, not sure how we're going to work it. So the direct answer is yes and no.

It was a hatchback car, and with the car spare tire removed and the hardboard cover, the 22.5 rv tire will stand up between the rear seat and the hatchback. It worked perfect as we had four people, and needed the back seat of the car for passengers. It was my friends rv and car. His rv wont accommodate a spare tire due to metal support brackets under the rv. My rv has a spot for a spare tire in the compartments. My friend has since had a carrier made up that goes on the front of his 40ft rv for his spare tire. It folds down with the pull of a pin. Easy to unload if required.

Hi MJoyce,

That's great you can load up the toad like that.

Hi Winniman,

My old coach had a spare but this one does not.

Hi Kajun,

How do you get the golf cart in the back of the JK?

I don't carry firewood, but I do load the back of our CR-V with all the spare electric extension cords (50A, 20A, 15A), toolbag, viair inflator, all spare towing connection stuff (safety cables, umbilical electric and umbilical air, baseplate tabs, pins/cotters, etc), small fold up table (grill setup for boondocking), and any other thing that can fit into the toad without overweighing it.

Saves a lot of weight in the coach.

Regards.

Chuck

That's a good place to store that kit Air Conditioned gypsy.

I did not even think you could get a gold cart in the back of a jeep.

Advice we got when buying and getting driving instruction is to NOT use the road as a trailer. I don't recall the rationale - may be related to GVCW

The campgrounds I have been in do not allow firewood that is not local. They are trying to prevent spread of insects and disease.

My wife and I load ours up. It's like extra closet space. Occasionally, we'll try to fold the rear seats up to carry friends in the back seat, and we have too much crap in the car to do it.

There is so little room in the Jeep, and we have lots of unused space in the basement of the motorhome. Plus, it keeps the towed weight down. Safety first!
