I purchase a Jeep Liberty for my towed. I am waiting on my Blue Ox base plate to arrive in the mail. I will be running the Brake Buddy Classic. On my Jeep there will be no lights on the dash illuminated while towing. Do most of your hook up a charge wire from your coach battery to charge your towed due to power drains from the aux braking system? I read about the need to install a diode and fuse in this line along with a limiter to not overcharge. I plan to do this.

I did on our '05 Odyssey. Some toweds need it, some don't. Found out the hard way with ours. Luckily I had taken a charger along with me just in case.
I used 8Ga wire and 30 amp self resetting fuses at each end and wired through the 7 way plug. Probably overkill though!

Same here. Just set up our 15 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited to be a toad. Had them add the charging wire to Jeep's battery. We use the Blue Ox Patriot braking system (similar to Brake Buddy) and didn't want to run down battery while it was being towed.

I have the Blue-Ox Patriot toad brake that will draw down the battery. I installed a Toad-Charge and it works great. Just another different way of doing it. I like the charge regulator that is part of the system.

I used the Brakebuddy battery maintainer and used the 7 pin cable aux line to charge my Toad. I towed my Honda Civic Si for two days in a row 8 hours a day with no problem before I hooked up the line. It depends on the toad. It just makes sense for no problems to hook it up first. Consider a different brake system,, US-Gear Unified Braked Decelerator

Most control of any system (From the otor home cockpit) and a CHARGE LINE included no extra charge.. Plus it is nearly invisible to the towed driver (Small bracket on brake arm) nothing to stow when you are driving, no re-install every time you tow and indicator inside the motor home.. What's not to like?

Other option..

That towed charge line consisted of basically three primary parts

1: 20 or 40 (Forget which) amp breaker connected to CHASSIS battery circuit on Motor Home.

2: Long wire (This was in 3 parts, I'd use 10ga or bigger, Part one was front (Battery connections center) to rear of MH (See notes below) part 2 was the brake umbicial (See note below) and 3rd part was a line from front of car to battery connection part with another breaker to protect it (The other of the two sizes,, NOTE in your case I'd use 20's both ends)

Notes: I now longer have that towed but have spliced in some Anderson power Pole connectors, made up an Anderson Umbicial, Addedn a 2nd line on the motor home to the FRONT (From the same breaker) so my new towed I can hook up either end.

Note: Battery connections point is NOT the battery, but the other end of a battery cable, On my motor home it is the battery control center, on my car the primary fuse box battery terminal.
