I installed the switch today. Drilled a 3/4 inch hole in the fuse door installed the switch there. plugged in the wires where the fuse used to be
and closed it up. 5 minutes at best. Works like a top

Lee, I think you're going to really like the Captiva for a toad. We like ours alot, don't even know it's back there while going down the road.

While looking for information on replacing the rear wiper blade. I came across a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Owners Manual from Canadian site. Looking threw manual it appears to be the same as my 2013 hard copy of the manual. It does have correct fuse information for dinghy towing. 2014 Chevrolet Captiva Sport Owners Manual.
This may also be good new for our Canadian friends. They may be able to purchase 2014 Captiva's.

Trip with Captiva
I just returned from my first real trip with the Captiva in tow behind my 2000 Rexhall Roseair with ford V10 with banks system. The Captiva was easy to tow and you could not even know its there without seeing it in the rear view camera. I towed it over 1100 miles without a hitch. I have all blue ox installed and it is a breeze to connect and disconnect. I also installed the fuse switch on the fuse panel door, so that also makes it easy to disconnect. I leave the driver door open when connecting system, and when I shut off the switch the door buzzer stops so I know it is working properly. I also had a key made so car won't be able to start only access the acc only, to prevent theft. No problem at all with battery discharge.

Good news Lee.
While browsing for a GM owners manual. I found that the 2013 and 2014 Owners manuals are now available online. GM Owners Manuals. It has correct information for fuse locations.

Lee and Ron, enjoy your Chevrolet Vues. Chevrolet dusted off the plans for the Saturn Vue and the Captivas are an exact copy. The Buick Encore is slightly different.
I echo your comments regarding how easy it is to tow. My fuse configuration only disconnects the ignition and what it controls and not any of the 12v power outlets so I can power my auxiliary brake from the console and use the remote key fob to lock the doors while towing.

While most everything is the same between Vue and Captiva. Electrical wiring and fuses are different. All the dash lights are green instead of red. As you noted the power plugs turn off differently on the Captiva. At least the cargo area power plug is always on.
How many miles have you towed your Vue?

About 10,000. Love it. Too bad about the the fuse issues as the Vue set up is perfect.

Captiva
Just got back from a 4000 mile trip and the Captiva towed perfectly. Manuel says to run for 5 minutes at every fuel stop but with a 90 gal tank that didn't seem right so I ran it in the morning before leaving and then again at noon. Worked out well and am pleased with the whole setup.

According to Remco Towing, the Encore uses the 6T40 transmission and is not towable. The Captiva probably uses the 6T45 which is towable in our 2009 Malibu whereas the 6T40 in the Cruze is not.

Just completed 2000+ miles trip. Not one problem with Captiva or towbar. Sure like towing it. I do start it at beginning of day and at lunch. With 600 miles between fuel stops. I think that is to long between running engine. No battery problems.

Ron, I have to believe we have one of the best tow bar/mounting plate/toad combinations available today. The Vue has been a favorite for towing along with the CR-V for years and the Captiva continues the legacy of that vehicle. And I think more and more people are going to find the ReadyBrute Elite tow bar makes sense for their tow bar choice. And the Blue Ox base plate is already at the top of the list for many people.

Just completed a 1200 mile trip. No issues with the Captiva, towed perfectly, no battery issues .
Next project rotate tires and adjust the tire system for the new positions.
