day to day driving
How do folks like this for daily driving? We'll be in the market for a SUV later and looking for owners thoughts. Have a HHR which runs fine and has adequate power just need more storage.

Very good handling car. On the highway it is quiet and smooth riding. I have had zero problems in 28,000 miles. Plus 3,000 towing.

I agree with Ron, very good ride and quiet. I'm not sure you will gain any space over what you have now though. As far as suvs go, the Captiva is one of the smaller ones.

I have a 4 cylinder. Easyrider has the 6 cylinder. I get a little noise from engine when accelerating. But when up to speed it is very quiet. When I tested a 6 cylinder it was quiet at all speeds.

Test drove one recently, OM says for flat towing, to run the engine 5 minutes at the start of the day and at fuel stops.

HHR has 1.2 cu ft more storage area than Captive. (been looking too)

I think the Captiva has less height than the HHR. Also more of a slant on hatch.

I found a 2009 Saturn Vue for sale with 25K miles. It had been used as a toad. The owner had removed the base plate. I bought it and set it up for towing. I love the car.
Prior to the Vue I towed using a Featherlight trailer. I noticed a difference between towing on a trailer and towing four down. My trailer has less friction as the wheels are free wheeling and with the Vue I am turning the running gear and transmission pump.
We traveled through the Canadian Rockies this summer and I thought something was wrong with my engine or transmission. Climbing grades was a lot different (slower) with the Vue than it was with my trailer. I can feel the difference on level ground starting from a dead stop.
I'm not in a big hurry so I can climb the steep grades a little slower.
Still love the Vue. I towed a Subaru Legacy, and a Miata on the trailer. Traded the Miata for the Vue.

I haven't noticed the difference with the toad back there on level roads but definately notice it on the hills. But that's to be expected with about 3700lbs extra back there. And that's the price you pay when you want to take it with you. We used to tow a motorcycle inside a very small and light trailer which we really didn't even notice while traveling, but having the Captiva instead is worth the slight difference in mileage as it's comfortable for running around in no matter what the weather is doing.

I find that my Malibu Maxx on a dolly pulled easier than towing the same car 4 down. The Malibu towed 4 down easier than my Captiva. Power is not a problem with a tuned Dmax. But I feel the difference. Fuel mileage is still about the same.
The Malibu when on the dolly was at 4000 lbs. 3400 without the dolly.
