Chevy Cruze with Air Force One

Hi,

We are working on the purchase of a 2015 Entegra Anthem as our first, "new to us" coach. We are researching the process of setting up our 2011 Chevy Cruze Eco with a manual transmission as a toad.

At this point I think we are going with the SMI Air Force One system which is available on eTrailer.com for $995. Does anyone know of any issues with the Air Force One and either the Anthem and/or the Cruze? I worry a little about fitting the control panel under the hood of the Cruze due to the limited space.

On a related note eTrailer also lists a custom tail light wiring kit ($38.81) which plugs directly to the light system for the Cruze. It sounds as though we would also need a brake relay kit ($28.95) to keep the toad's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the coach. The last piece is an adapter for a 4 way to 7 pole for connection to the coach.

Does this seem like the best approach for the lighting? Also while I think we will have someone install the Air Force One system, is it reasonable for a DIY approach for the lighting?

Thanks for the help,
Paul

I just had the SMI Air Force One installed but they installed the box behind the nose somewhere, I can't see it, I have looked. They did shop wiring and installed the base plate all at the same time. Also installed the RVI battery charging system into the cord, works great.

Good morning, RecPro

The AFO will be an excellent system for your cruise. I have looked online and marked where i would test fit the Operating Unit for the system. If that does not work or fit your liking, 2 Stroker is right in saying it can be tucked behind the front bumper facia. Ive seen many slick installs like that.

Sorry I can't help with the other questions very well, I can answer most any question you have on the SMI systems. ask away here or PM me if you wish.

Happy trails!!

Can't comment on the Cruze but will say that you are going to be very happy with the SMI AF1 system. Very smooth and trouble free once installed correctly. There seem to be few problems with the units. Got one and really like it.
Good luck, good health and safe travels!
