A BIG ditto on this! I picked up my '08 Dynasty the 8th of April, hooked up my 2015 Equinox with a used Roadmaster Sterling tow bar, pulled out of the dealership and thought the toad was going to rip itself off the back of the coach! To make a long story shorter...went to CW and bought a new Sterling tow bar; seemed to work. Two weeks later I came around a tight corner and it started again but to a lesser degree. Called Roadmaster and was advised that it was NOT a problem with their tow bars but with the vehicle! Seems the Grand Cherokee as well as others including the Equinox exhibit the problem known as "Death Wobble"!

Talked to my VERY knowledgeable source at Mr. Front End about alignment of the front end but there is no caster adjustment on the Equinox. He said the problem stems from the ELECTRONIC STEERING not knowing where center is when power is off. He said, "try towing with the engine idling." Put the old "really bad" used tow bar on the coach, started the Equinox in neutral and pulled away...NO PROBLEMS!

The solution seems to be, revert to the "Jeep" solution of using bungee cords tied to the steering wheel to center it, or tow with the engine idling!

Any thoughts?

I tow a 2010 equinox and pull #32 fuse the problem is sometimes I forget to put it back in for a few days. I not sure what the fuse controls and if I'm hurting anything?

We tow a 2015 Equinox 4 down with the ready brake system. Ready brake has the cable surge brake system and putting on the cable system was easy. Just remove the left front tire and you have easy access to install the cable system. The cable is connected to the pedal with a snap clip. I installed a Roadmaster base plate purchased from Etrailer. They have an installation video online. We chose Roadmaster because they are the only one that makes a base plate for our Miata which I plan on setting it up to flat tow. There are instructions in the owners manual on the procedure for flat towing. Very easy to do.

We have the V6 model and have reed online about issues with the 4 cylinder model with an electric steering box. It seems there may be a problem with the front tires tracking properly while making a turn. Just an issue to be aware of.

We really enjoy the equinox. We looked at the CRV but my son could not even get into the car. A new CRV can not be flat towed because of a different transmission. The Equinox has so much more legroom, even in the back seat.

We just purchased 2015 Equinox, AWD, 4cly. LT. Can you provide model numbers for RM. also we have air available in back of coach ( previous toad) any recommendation for Brake. How about light issues while towing.

What is the solution. Would it help to buy s different bar. I just purchased 2015 EQ.

I've never experienced any "wobble" issue in towing my Equinox and I've towed it over 10k miles. I follow the user manual instructions for towing (ignition in acc, pull a fuse) and the battery stays charged via the RV connection.

My first long trip is planned for Athens, TX to M & G Engineering for their air brake system. Call them and talk to "Monty" if you are interested. I'm taking my coach to Athens because my "local" installer estimates "all day to install" at $110 hour.....Monty will install for $300 including break-away and adding air jack.

The tow bar is not the problem. Jeep users finally got Jeep to work out a solution, a steering stabilizer, I think.

I'm going to try rotating tires (rear to front) to see if that helps.

Good to know. I found the entailer site to most helpful. The job first look hard. I have an air hake already installed on MH. Just need to find out what the toad needs. Keep posted on your trip to see Monty

Boomer I also like the M&G and it is a easy installation if you have the tools to do the job, the installation of the Roadmaster brackets is also doable for a first timer. I will past a link to the brackets just click on the bracket # to see the installation instructions. It is a good thread on this web site on the installation of the M&G on a Chevy truck and it will give a good idea of how to do the installation, one warning if you do it your self be sure to deplete the vacuum by pressing the brakes a few time with the engine off before removing the brake cyl or it may suck the O ring off of the rear of the brake cylinder if not depleted, I know from experince.

I've seen quite a few mention tying a bungee cord to the steering wheel and hooking it under the seat. Do you leave it loose enough so the wheels still turn, but tight enough so they don't end up turning a direction you don't want?
