Chrysler Town &Country vs Honda Odyssey TOAD

Am considering purchasing a used Toad - either Chrysler T & C or a Honda Odyssey. Based on info from Remco, the Chrysler can towed w/o a pump but need to follow Chrysler's guidelines. Does anyone know what they are? Honda Odyssey requires a pump. Any recommendations would really be appreciated. Have been towing a 96 Town & Country for 8 years with only a 1 1/2 qt reservoir and no pump and had no problems but won`t chance on newer model.
If we purchased a newer model with a warranty, would it be voided being flat towed? Thanks

Towing instructions can be found in the owner's manual. Since you haven't purchased a vehicle yet, look online for a PDF copy of the manual for the model you're interested in buying. I'd imagine if your vehicle was under warranty and the manual said it couldn't be towed, any transmission damage would be on your wallet, not theirs, even with a Remco pump.

What year Honda? Remco says the 5 sp auto up to 2012 can be flat toad as is, the2014 and newer 6 sp needs a dolly or trailer.
I've got over 110K drive and >25K towing on my 02 Odyssey.

Not sure where you are getting your Town&Country info. Says lube pump needed on Remco site.

Sounds backwards to me. I don't think Remco ever made a lube pump for the Odyssey, but I know they make one for the Chrysler. The Chrysler needs a pump.

I've read that the Odyssey can be towed (in spite of Honda saying not to) without a pump if you follow the published pre-tow procedure. If you do a web search you will find posts by people who are successfully towing certain year Odysseys against Honda's advice.

Is your Honda info true for current/recent model years? I think the Honda towing changed in the past few years - such as NO flat towing period.

Honda ended their approval of towing on Odysseys in the mid 2000's. I think beginning with the 2005's they are not approved for towing. But some people are towing the 2005's to 2011's or 2012's sucessfully, using the published procedure that Honda issued for the 2003 and earlier Odysseys.

If you do a web search on this you can find people's reports of doing this successfully with Odysseys of those model years.

Correct info, the prohibition started with the '05 year and Honda paid us NOT to tow ours after we got it in writing on their letterhead that it was towable. Just turned over 100,000 miles an hour or so ago. No troubles ever.
Have also talked with others that tow their newer Ody's and have no trouble, last one was a 2010.
