Class A Rving 20+ Yrs - Towed Today 1st Time

You veteran toad-towers will find this amusing, I'm sure.

We've been RVing a long time, mostly with Class A's, and we've seen everybody towing their toads. I've always envied them, knowing that they have campground mobility. I've always resisted towing, based on my fear of something going wrong, and causing major damage and expensive repairs.

I finally came to the realization that if towing was as fraught with peril as I previously imagined, people would be reporting it. So I decided to make the plunge. I bought a Roadmaster tow bracket for our '17 Jeep Wrangler and installed it, as well as an RVI3 auxilliary brake system, and a Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar.

Today, we hooked it all up, and made a successful 1 1/2 mile towing test run, including two tight culdesac turn-arounds - tight enough that I had to use all the turning radius I had, so I knew the turns were OK for the Jeep and all the hook-up cables, as well.

Everything worked out fine, so I guess we've joined the "towing" set.

Happy, happy.

I bought a NightHawk last September to replace the old (2004 model) Sterling that I bought new. Nice towbar and seems to be a little heavier construction than the old Sterling. You should do well with it.

Yeah, I bought it specifically for the 8K rating, which is more than adequate for our JK. I like to go well past spec'd limits.

The LEDs on the towbar arms are cool, but we don't drive much at night. I mostly chose it based on new design and load limits.

Very nice to hear from you again, "Mr D".
