If your JK is lifted and does not have adjustable control arms, I'd be willing to bet your caster on the Jeep is very low. Caster has a large effect on the the vehicles tendency to return to center (in other words it resists "wandering"). I'd have the alignment on the Jeep checked to be3 saure it's close to factory spec; 5 degrees positive caster if it's an 2012 or newer.

You didn't mention how much lift or tire size, that could be a factor as well.

I would say your Jeep is wandering some and with the reversed drop there is some play which amplifies this. Do whatever it takes to remove all the slop from the hitch and it will probably fix this.

How much lift on the jeep? Tire size? Air pressure in tires? I tow my 07 jk 2.5 in lift w/ 33's and air up to 40 psi when towing does wander a bit with 30 psi, none with 40 psi.some even put 50 psi in while towing. Just something to think about. Click image for larger version

I have a Teraflex D44 front axle with corrected pinion angle and adjustable control arms set to almost 5 degrees of caster. I'll try higher pressure in the 37" KO2s and if it doesn't help I will buy a rear HD sway bar.

I am in the process of finding a Class C to drag my Jeep around too - trying to decide between Flat Tow and a trailer. I have heard that off road rigs (Lifted, big tires etc.) can get squirrely when flat towed and there isn't much you can do to help it. I am looking to pull mine on a Trailer for this reason and the wear on the high $$ tires etc. The trailer will cost me some weight but I like the idea of heavy duty trailer brakes etc. I will be interested to follow and see if you can get it worked out.

I have a trailer for my Jeep but have zero interest in using it behind the motor home. Most every camp ground we will visit has no room for empty trailers. I also want to be able to park my class C in nearly any public parking area in mountain towns and take off in the Jeep without anyone knowing you aren't simply down the street at a local cafe. A motor home with a connected empty car trailer takes a TON of realestate to park and screams "we are just dropping this here and may not be back for hours!"

For you guys Flat Towing - are you using supplemental Breaks? If so which setup?
I am glad to hear you are not having problems with lifted jeeps on big tires - had heard they could be a problem.

Silverton does have a lifted jeep with big tires.
