Clicking noise behind dash

Have 2011 Jeep liberty with a strange noise that sometimes comes out from behind the speedo area if the dash. It's a metallic clicking noise, sort of like trying to start your car with a bad battery but not as loud. It used to do it just as I opened the door and go away in about 5 sec. Now it is doing it while driving for a few seconds.
Any ideas.
Hope this is in the right spot

A quick Google on "2011 Jeep liberty clicking sound behind dash" indicates something to do with the heater system air doors.

We had an older Saturn that did something similar. As stated above, it was the motor that changed the position of the air circulation door. The gears inside the motor strip out and the motor keeps running causing the click sound.

It's kind of strange that you say it first started when you would open the door though as the key wouldn't be in yet.

Thanks guys, I saw the posts bout the blender doors buy this will happen when I first open the door. Key not in the ignition. And now when driving down the road. I know I should take it into a dealer but I think they are just big rip offs.
