We tow a Mini Cooper S 2007 manual 6 speed transmission - four down. Purchased the Blue Ox set up: Tow Bar, Base Plate and the Patriot Brake System. The Patriot Brake is easy to set up. Our Mini is about 2600 pounds. Our year Mini has the round disc looking "key bob" that slips in the slot on the dash. The key bob must be in for the steering not to lock up. We have not used any shield for the front of the Mini. Base Plate self installed by DH and it was pretty easy and took about 2 hours. From all I've read, the Mini's vary by year on process of towing (key in/out, etc.).

I had a clear film installed on the front of the Mini to protect it from rock chips. Worth the money.

I just purchased a 2007 mini cooper S and had the blue ox system installed. The only question I have is do you have any battery draining issues and does your odometer record the mileage. It looks like the mileage does accumulate. I haven't been on a trip yet to see if the battery drains. Thanks for any info.

In our 2006 MCS, there is no battery drain because the steering wheel is unlocked with the key in the off position (as long as the key stays in the ignition). You can also run a hot wire from the MH to charge your tow.
