Rodney,

All good advice….

If I can give you my 2 pennies regarding reconnecting the battery

Prior to reconnecting the battery I turn the ignition off and remove the key. I then reconnect the battery and wait a few minutes. You can hear those little electric gremlins doing their calibrating.

When I don't hear any further I put the key in and start the truck.

I take all precautions due to the issues some have had with the Transfer case not shifting.

I figure I'll let the truck electronically recalibrate before I start activating things.

I've had a couple successful trips so far.

good luck and enjoy!

What Vato said. The one time I've had an issue was when I was in a hurry and rushed the process.

All good advice given above, I have towed my colorado quite a few times, and the only trouble I have is when rushing, look at your watch and wait the 30 seconds, also, very important you hear all those little whirrings and stuff when reconnecting or shifting into transfer case neutral-regarding unhooking, unless I am given a pull thru site, I insist on disconnecting and re connecting at the entrance or a wide perimeter road. This way I can take my time, and not have to contend with overly helpful and curious camper neighbors, or block their campsite access.

I don't have to open the hood to disconnect the Colorado from the battery.

I use: http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Prog-B...ttery+brain%27

A simple key fob remote to connect/disconnect the battery.

X2 on the Battery Brain. I have been using it for 18 months with no problems. My Chevy dealer service manager thinks it is great. That is a good price on Amazon.

Towing the Colorado

I have a'15 Colorado, I've had it a year. I tow it on a dolly. The owners manual says to leave the ignition in the lock off position. This totally wrong, but they are to stupid to user stand that the steering has to be free to follow my MH.
Sometimes it take 10 or15 minutes to shift the transfer case into neutral. The dealer says this is normal. BS

It is BS. I have a 2015 Colorado and I do the entire set up in under a minute. I have been doing this for 18 months and about 40 setups with no problems. The procedure I use is out of the owners manual with duplicate steps omitted.
Ask your dealer to demonstrate the procedure on your truck.

I haven't used a dolly in over 30 years, but if you're shifting the transfer case to Neutral I presume you're putting the front wheels on the dolly. If that's the case does the steering need to be unlocked?

Looks about the same as mine. What about your break away switch?
