Combining Drop Hitch and Extender?

I currently have a dual hitch receiver where I use a 2" drop for toad and the 4" rise for a bicycle carrier. I am needing to add an extension for the 2" drop of at least 6" so that I can fold my Blue Ox tow bar to the stowed position and maybe as much as 12" to ensure the bike carrier doesn't catch my toad in a tight turn.

Here is what I have in mind.

1. Hitch - 10,000# towing & 1,000# tongue weight.
2. Roadmaster Dual receiver - 10,000# towing & 400# tongue weight.
3. Blue Ox 12" extension - 10,000 towing & 1,000# tongue weight.
4. Towing Honda CRV Max weight 4000# if loaded with junk.

To be honest, I am wondering if adding an extender to an adaptor is smart in the first place.

Don, I can't answer whether an extension with an adapter is safe, but I can attest to just an extension. We have a 22,000# 1989 Foretravel towing a 2006 Saturn Vue that weighs in at around 4,300#. We use a Readybrake braking system that, because of its length, moves the Blue Ox Aventa tow bar about 14" further away from the coach. At times it feels like the "tail is wagging the dog" if you get my meaning. After saying that, I would think that you wouldn't experience that feeling having a much heavier coach and a tag axle.
All that being said, I would be hesitant to put a lot of force (4,000#) off centerline of the 2" receiver.

Humm,,, I use a 4" Drop and a Draw Tight "Ball mount" bike rack,, Blue Ox custom modified the drop by welding a "Tong" on it (Ball mount bracket) where the bike rack bolts on.

Adding extensions reduces the hitch rating, the more extension (or the more drop) the more the reduction.. Using that 4" drop and a 4,000 towed I pulled the 5,000 pound rated hitch right off my motor home.. A very good weld shop put it back,, and I suspect the part that broke is now rated at aroudn 15,000 pounds (But the total hitch rating is still 5K)
