For the first time, I will be pulling a toad. I have done a lot of reading and hope I have some things sorted out of the process. Please correct me on any of the points below:

1. I am using a Roadmaster tow bar (RM520) and the RM164 wiring harness with diodes. I believe this prevents me from needing a charging line to the toad battery.
2. I also understand there is no need to disconnect the negative on the battery.
3. I am using a brake buddy classic and the specs on that product states the toad battery drain is minimal. I never plan to pull a toad for more than one day and certainly don't mind cranking the toad at night for a little running. I understand the brake buddy classic has no connection to the motor home. I am hopeful there will not be false braking on the toad. From my research it seems many states require the supplemental breaking if the toad is over 3,000 lbs and the Jeep is probably a little under 4,000.
4. With the above stated harness the toad taillights, break lights, and turn signals will be powered by the battery in the RV not the toad.
5. My toad is a Jeep Wrangler Sport 2014 and believe after reading a lot of posts the instructions in the Jeep manual is fine except for the no longer a need to pull the battery negative as many stated the manual is not updated.
6. My Jeep is automatic but the procedures to put the vehicle in toad mode (transfer case in neutral) seem fairly simply. And return to normal also simple.
7. Base plate for my Jeep is RM 1432-1.
8. I also have a flex coil RM164 in the package.
9. Paying "RV Station" in Colbert, OK for the install.

I suppose I need safety cables and I am not sure if I have that in the package.

So, any comments or corrections to the above? First major trip planned has us leaving 7 July for the Winnebago GNR in Forest City and we are in North Texas so pray all is well for that trip. I may be able to work in a short trip prior to leaving. And I will pull the toad from RV Station in Oklahoma to my home – about 50 miles so that can give me a feel.

My jeep wrangler is also an automatic--2009 Unlimited. You are correct that the transfer case (lever that changes bt 2WD & 4WD) should be in neutral to allow all 4 wheels to spin freely. But the transmission needs to go back into park after you set the transfer case to N, and trannie stays in Park while you tow. I know that sounds weird, but it is true for my jeep. I read that it is because otherwise, gears in the trannie will spin and with no fluid pumping around, will burn up.

So...CHECK YOUR manual. I suspect yours is the same, but you need to verify.

Thanks - yes that is what my manual says to do also. I just didn't list all the steps but yes, you return the tranny to Park after putting the transfer case in neutral.
