I'm thinking about buying a 2011 Jeep Grand Overland. My concerns are the weight. I understand it is about 6000 lbs. I have a Workhorse with the Banks System and the Ultra-Power chip. How might it affect the performance of the motorhome. Right now my Toad is a Subaru Baja and I don't feel a bit a difference between towing and not towing

The 2011 is around 5000lb or a little less, not 6K. That 1000lbs is a big difference when considering. I wouldn't want to see you thinking the JGC is heavier than it actually is by that much. I've had mine for about 3months now and absolutely LOVE it.

The 2011 JGC Overland with V-8 (required for being towed) weighs 5,210.

The V-8 is not "required" for the JGC to be towable. All That is required is Qaudra-tracII or Qaudra-drive 4 wheel drive system.

All Overlands with V-6 have the Qaudra-tracII and all V-8 Overlands have the Qaudra-drive. In other words, all 4x4 overlands are towable.

That's what I get for listening to the dealer Interestingly enough, of the 15 or so JGC on this dealer's lot, the only one's with the Quadra-TrakII transmissions were also equipped with the 5.7 V-8. He did not have any Overland editions on the lot.

So, I got a HEMI and didn't need to. Oh well, it has plenty of get up and go.

Gil,
The limited comes with Qaudra-tracII when equipped with the V-6 . The Laredo and laredo X unless you order the off-road package have qaudra-trac I. The limited and laredo X V-8 come standard with Qaudra-tracII unless you order the off-road group II package. The ORII includes qaudra-lift as well as Qaudra-drive on the limited, while it is Qaudra-tracII on the laredo X.

The Hemi is a lot of fun though! Especially when you put the selec-terrain in sport position.

Just in case anyone is wondering, this vehicle, a 6 cyl, empty with 1/2 tank of gas weighed 4,980 pounds at the local truckstop. A far cry from what I've been told by Jeep experts,ie;salesmen.

My info in the earlier post was spot on judging by that.

Well, I did it. Sitting next to my rig in the Nellis AFB Fam Camp is a 2011 Overland V-8 with about 18 miles on it. A far cry from the Subaru Baja. No longer do I have to shift a 5 speed!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the new toad! You'll enjoy it if it's anything like the experience I'm having with mine.

So far it's a kick! I'm becoming well aquainted with the owners manual. It's just about as complicated as getting to know a new motorhome. I did order paper copies of all the manuals tho.
