If you're like me, out on the road, away from a daily mail delivery, you might not have heard about this recall. My daughter picks up our mail from a local Postal Annex. Just received a notice on our 2010. If I understood it correctly, it'll be a few months before parts are available to fix it. Apparently there is some sort of financial assistance available if you want to park the car until then & rent one.

It's not only the driver air bag it's both and this recall is over a year old. We had two Hondas in our family. I also think it's other brand of cars that use the same brand of air bag.

I just got the official recall today. The recall notice indicates it is for the "driver's front airbag inflator" . No mention about the passenger side at all. It covers "certain 2007 to 2011 model year CR-V vehicles". Yes, it does indicate that a dealer may be able to provide a substitute car or reimbursement for a rental. The following is not exact wording, but close:

THE REMEDY PARTS NEEDED TO CONDUCT DRIVER'S AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALLS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE IN SUMMER OF 2016. HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS IN A N INITIAL LETTER WITH A SECOND LETTER BEING MAILED WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. PLEASE DISCUSS YOUR SPECIFIC NEEDS AND CONCERNS WITH YOUR DEALER, INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF, OR REIMBURSEMENT FOR, TEMPORARY ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION AS NECESSARY.

I wonder if they will install my toad base plate for me to use????

Pete that web site didn't show the Element and I know that they was a recall on them as we had one done over a year ago on a 03 Element?

Just found the actual recall notice for the Honda CRV

Just received a recall notice today in the mail for our Honda FIT. It appears to be the same issue.
They ALSO say in the letter that parts will be available in the summer of 2016 and they will send a follow up letter as to when they will start the repairs.

It may have to wait until we return in the fall.........summer is travel time for us

I have yet to see our actual letter. There was a previous recall we received in the past, but it did not apply to our specific car. Interestingly enough, my daughter also just received a recall notification for the passenger side airbag on my old 2006 Tundra that my granddaughter is now driving. It can be replaced immediately.
