You cannot tow an all-wheel-drive CR-V on a dolly. It must be towed with all four wheels on the ground, or with all four wheels on a trailer. The 2WD CR-V can go on a dolly.

Something you may want to think about is the problem with the CRV battery being undersized. There are many threads on this with pulling fuses, installing charge lines etc to side step having a dead battery.

I can tell you from experience, the Only fix is to replace the group 51, 400 CCA OEM toy battery with a Group 24, 800+ CCA battery. The switch is very simple. From your Honda dealer, purchase the two part battery tray for a 2014 Odessy for about $20 and a new group 24 battery. Go with the highest CCA you can find.
In the end, for under $200 you will not be plagued with dead battery issues.
The CRV is a great toad except for this one little flaw. The 2015 has the larger battery but unfortunately, it is not towable.

Nope, all the CR-V's before 2015 were towable four down whether all wheel or front wheel drive.

We have friends towing an '07 Ody and their battery runs down. We had the same problem with our '05 Ody. To cure ours I ran a charge line from the MH to the Ody and no more problems. That's what lots of people do rather than changing batteries.

Thanks for catching that. I got it backwards from my other post, somehow. The AWD model has to have all four wheels either on or off of the road, trailered or flat-towed. It cannot go on a dolly. That's the most important consideration.

I was planning on getting a CR-V in '16 to replace the '05 Ody that we tow. But since the new one's aren't towable I guess we'll just keep the Ody even though we don't need the bigger vehicle anymore. I really don't think I'd notice the difference towing anyway.

Somebody posted that the new HR-V, which is based on the new Fit chassis, is flat-towable, even with the CVT. Unless your over six feet tall, it's probably worth looking at.

EDIT: I downloaded the owner's manual, which explicitly states that it cannot be flat-towed behind a motorhome. Too bad.

Actually the 6 spd. manual trans model is towable behind a motorhome. Honda just released a manual update to clarify. However the 6 spd. is almost impossible to find at Honda dealers in the USA. I understand from friends in Canada that the 6 spd. is more available there.

While towing: Remember to switch the headlights to OFF vs AUTO to not run battery down. Also remember on the radio just turning off the radio will not turn off the display (which will run battery down). To turn off display go into the clock setting and at the end of the line that says DISPLAY all the way at the right end it says OFF.
I copied the towing instructions from the owners manual and I keep the copy in the center console to refer back to before towing.
We love our Honda CR-V (although we have a different year than you bought).
