CRV Battery Drain

My battery tends to drain when I tow my 2005 CRV longer than 6 hours. Is there a wiring connector available that has a built in battery charge line that runs from the MH 7 pin to the Toad? I currently have a 7 pin to 4 pin ( Toad side ) hooked up.

I also have some type of a short in the TOAD that blows the fuses on the lights for the MH and the TOAD after a few minutes when they are connected. When the vehicles are not hooked up to each other, there is no problem!

First suggestion would be to install a 6 pin round connector on the CRV and make sure you are connected on each end per the attached illustration for 7 Pin to 6 pin. Use the Aux (centre) pin to run power from the MH to the Toad. Use a 15A reset fuse on each end of this power connection.
That is basically how mine is set up and I never have dead battery issues.

Thanks for the excellent diagram! You said you use a 7 pin to 6 pin and it also provides power to charge your battery, correct? So I might buy a 6 wire harness setup for the TOAD and replace the existing 4 wire. It should solve the problems of the short ( which i guess is in the TOAD 4 wire somewhere and keep my batter charged?

You require the 6 pin to accommodate the Aux Power line from the Mh to Toad.
If you follow the connection codes, you should have no trouble. Suspect you have one of your lighting connections shorted to ground in one or the other plugs. Good Luck
