How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

They changed the door to swing up when they released the gen 3 model in 2007. Everything since then is swing up.

That is much better. To the side was a terrible idea.

I had a 2002 CR-V and the good thing about the side door was that you could pop open the rear window separately from the door. Good for sticking long loads such as lumber out the back. Also, you could drop packages in the trunk without opening the door.

So are you saying the newer CRV's don't have a hatch window that opens? That sounds odd.

Well, I did just recently acquire my 2014 CR-V, but if there is a release for the rear window, Honda has hidden it very well.

The rear hatch window in our 2014 does not open, unlike our former Jeep Liberty.
