CRV Towing Limit

I bought a 2014 CRV in December of 2017. I use the procedure from the owners manual each day when towing. In the 5 months I have had the car, it has been towed just under 7000 miles, and seems to be no worse for the wear. A great car and a great toad.

BUT, I am confused about one aspect of the pre-tow procedure. It states in the owners manual that for "extended" towing of more than 8 hours in a day, you should repeat the pre-tow procedure every 8 hours. Does this mean 8 hours total in a day, or 8 hours in one stretch? I rarely drive 8 hours in a day, but I have on a couple of occasions, and in each case, there are rest stops and maybe a re-fuel stop, so the driving is broken up into a few shorter stretches.

So, the bottom line is: Does the pre-tow procedure get done once when you start a day and then every 8 hours, no matter how many stops of 30-40 minutes are made OR does the pre-tow procedure get done every time you take off from a stop.

I reviewed lots of prior threads on towing CRVs and none seemed to directly address this question.

Thanks.

Chuck

8 hours on the clock, not towing time.
Used the same instructions on our '05 Ody and towed it 40,000 miles or so with no problems.

On my older 1999 C-RV, I read that the startup procedure moves lubricant to all needed locations and that it will drain down in a little over 8 hours no matter the status, so, as Mr-D said 8 hours parked or moving.
