I never go with what the onboard display says my mileage is. Don't have this in my present Class A so calculating mileage the "old fashioned way" is my only option.

In both of my cars, the onboard display tends to underestimate the amount of gas consumed which tends to overestimate the average fuel economy.

Yep, EVERY car, truck, RV I ever owned ALWAYS misstates the MPG.

Simple math
Note odometer at fill up.
Drive a good long distance
Filler up and note the total gallons (please don't average up or down ) and the odometer reading
Take the difference between the odometer reading and divide by the total gallons.

That is your actual MPG.

My current toad a '16 Focus is off by over 7%.

My DIC showed 8.2 last time, I went 700 miles and fill up was 86 gallons. I did use the gen set some. That was 8.139.
So I'm pretty confident in what the DIC says.

Last trip got 7.68, with our 01 Mountain Aire, with the Cummins ISC, pulling a Traverse. Generally stay 60-65 mpg. That's calculating since don't have the dash thing on the old gal.
