Dang Dolly!

We were on our northern migration from FL to NH...1600 miles. Had the Ford Focus all strapped down, safety cables on....all good to go. I check the straps, tires, hitch, etc every time I stop. After 3 days and 1300 miles of driving, I heard a rattling chain type sound from the backup camera's microphone. I'm thinking a safety chain from the dolly to the hitch popped off. I was a mile from pulling into camp WM for the night, so I chanced driving there. I was stopped at the left turn lane red light and this nice man in a VW pulled up on my right side and was waiving at my wife. I'm guessing to tell us something is wrong. Unfortunately, the car in front of him had just stopped at the red light. The poor guy in the VW ran into the stopped car in front of him. I couldn't do much, as there was lots of traffic and his light turned green. Back to the dolly. ..it turned out to be the right wheel strap came completely of the tire. The metal hold down hook was dragging on the ground. I guess the crappy Rt 84 in PA or NY jogged the strap off. The car was still square on the dolly and the strap wasn't damaged. Worked out OK for us...not so much for the guy in the VW!

Oh my, glad your toad was fine, but sure sorry the guy was hurt.

Look at what kind of rig we have and what we are towing.
