I wouldn't even give it a lot of thought. I'd start shopping for a TJ for sure. And it's about the cheapest to setup you can find.

What about trading one of your daily drivers for one that can be towed? A dedicated toad means insuring, storing, maintaining and depreciating an extra vehicle. These dollars could be put to use upgrading one of your present vehicles to one that can be towed. There are many AWD and 4WD vehicles that are towable.

Hi Hohenwald,

I hear you about boy giving it a lot of thought, I do tend to overthink things ;-)

Hi Jim,

Thats a really nice Beetle.

Hi Marc,

We both like our daily drivers too much (and both are paid for). I have checked and insurance, registration and maintenace should run about 1k a year.

Hi Stepaside,

A focus is on my top 5 :-)

Also I am afraid of hauling a 40-50k toad around for starter towing. Same way I purchased a cheapish MH as my trainer one :-)

We pulled an 08 Grand Vitara for 4 years. It was GREAT. Gave it to my 16 year old granddaughter last month and now have a 2014 Kia Soul (manual) so far so good.

We just bought a 2006 CRV SE that is AWD... So far it has been a great designated toad. If you can find one in good condition, I'd definitely recommend it!

We pull a ‘12 Colorado crew cab 4x4. Plenty of room, lightweight, agile, electronically goes into neutral, 21 mpg (city). We searched for a while to get what we wanted (color & mileage).....definitely worth the search. Went with Blue Ox tow system and AirForce One braking, and Protect-A-Tow rock shield. Perfect set up!

We tow a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4X4. I hardly know it is back there. I have to look at the camera display on the dash to make sure it is still following us.
