I have a new Demco 460 SS Dolly that that tows well with the following exception: the straps especially the driver side strap is constantly loosening up. After tightning up the strap at the beginning of the day it loosens after a few miles which allows the winch to slide over to the outside of the tire pulling the strap with it. When the strap and winch are repositioned and tightned the problem seems to lessen but is not completely resolved. This does not happen with the passenger side strap. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Hard to say. A tip I read here on IRV2 was that once you strap it down tight was to get in the car with the motor running (power steering) and swing the wheels right to left a few times. Since I started doing that, my straps never had to be re-tightened.

I also own the 460 SS model

I drive up on my Kar Kaddy ss tow dolly, and try to position it in the middle (front to back). I put the transmission in neutral, and install and tighten up the straps. I am able to snug them up pulling the car towards the front. I then put the car into park. Have been doing it this way for a number of trips, and the wheel straps stay tight.

If it is new the straps need to stretch out. I used to drive my car right up to the stops in the wheel wells then use the strap ratchet and tighten the straps as tight as I could get them and they remained tight. If I remember correctly, the owners manual states to check tightness of the tire straps after 50 miles of driving.

I ALWAYS stop after a few miles and check the straps, this is in the owners manual too.
