Demco excalibar hookup problem

I just bought a used Excalibar and downloaded the manual. Something is wrong. I am told after connecting the arms, to back the toad slowly to latch the arm. The red bands are supposed to be no longer visa le. This is impossible as they Re outside the large tube already . Maybe the towbar is older and Imam looking at the wrong manual? Anyway, I need some help. Thanks

We have used the Excalibur for several years.
I hook the arms up, back the car up to lock the arms,
then pull away. Sometimes if you are not completely
straight inline, one arm does not lock until you
pull away with the coach. The arms must lock to prevent
the toad from coming forward. Check going ahead a few feet
and stop. The arms should be locked. Try backing up a couple of inches.
Check to make sure you are locked.

HAVE A SECOND PERSON WATCHING THE HITCH AT ALL
TIMES WHEN TRYING THIS.

The locking bands on mine are not visible until the bars are locked. They are under the locking collars and are green in color. My excalibar however is a first generation one and probably different from yours.

Thanks. I tried all of the suggestions you provided. One arm locked. The other seems stuck. I even tried with the one that does lock disconnected. No luck. Possibly I need to dissasemble that locking collar. If you have any thoughts send them on. Thanks again

Demco excalibar hookup problem

A call to Demco would probably get the right model, manual, and other help.

If yours is an older model with no rubber boots on the arms then the locking mechanism is probably gunked up which is quite common. The procedure to disassemble and clean is in the correct manual and is not difficult.
