I decided to buy a Demco KarKaddy SS tomorrow for $1500. Any words of advice or caution?

I used a Demco Kaddy for over 25 years, until for many reasons we started towing flat. I purchased a Demco light tow-bar. I have always been pleased with the product and the company. Over the years I called Demco for touch up paint, a new fender after a tire failure, and new tie-downs replaced due to wear. They have always been helpful and responsive. And, they make a quality Kaddy.
Happy Trails.

Great purchase and an excellent price btw.
Remember to remove the pin in the center of the axle shaft that keeps the wheels straight when towing the dolly empty before driving the vehicle up on the dolly. Do make sure the pin is in place when towing empty or the dolly will go allover the road. I sure hope I haven't totally confused you.
You can download a manual from Demco's website if you need one.

Yep, that pin is hard to get to once the vehicle is loaded!! And yes, I've done it as well as tried to back the dolly down my driveway without the pin in place!
I paid just over $2,200 for mine, new and unassembled. Had it delivered to work, they left it at the front doorway (retirement center). I had to get it out of there fast so I worked in a snow storm and did it by myself in a couple hours. I didn't have a torque wrench with me so I had to wait till I got it home to finish.

Can not go wrong with the Demco. Mine has been all over the North America with no problem.

The quality of the Demco Kar Kaddy SS far greater than the new one we just bought. We never had any complaints with the Demco.

You just found one heck of a deal if that's what you paid. Great unit! Make sure your tire pressure is where it should be before towing as well.

All. Your input is valuable. I'll contact Demco for an OM.

Check the tires. If they are carliles replace them with Goodyear marithons. I bought mine in 05 and it had carlile tires on it. I always kept them inflated to the recomended pressure But last year on the way to florida they both came apart and took the fenders with them. I later found out that the last ones with carlile tires had been made in 03 so I think mine set around in a warehouse for a while.
