Your tire temp is 158 default from factory. Your are probably going over your tire max setting. 40 lbs is not a big problem set your parameter pressure higher or just push a button and silence alarm.

Final update: problem solved! 10 minutes with my trusty socket set and I got the tailpipe turned out to about 45*. This was easier for me than trying to jury-rig an insulation cover for the sensor.

In 90 plus temperatures at 65 mph, right tire temperature held steady at 110* (from 130+ the previous days) and pressure held steady at 40#. Other tires were 5-10* cooler and about 5# less pressure throughout the day.
