Diode specification -brake controller

I installed a prodigy 2 brake controller in my 2006 Country Coach Inspire. I know my brake lights come on when my jake brake activates so I want to install a diode on the brake switch which is wired to my controller to prevent the signal from the jake brake from activating my trailer brakes. Can anyone tell me what size, type, amp rating etc. that I need to buy? There are thousands of diodes and I know nothing about them except that the right one will keep the electric current from back feeding into the brake controller. I called Radio Shack hoping they they could advise me but struck out. Advice or your experience will be appreciated.

Guessing it would have to hold off a bit of current. Maybe check around (google) brake controller pulse preventer sold by many online hitch dealers.
