We disconnect ours.for any trip over a couple of hours. Have a socket wrench in the glove box to remove the negative cable. That way there is no worry of killing the battery with the key on to unlock the steering column.

Go to TOAD-CHARGE Dinghy Vehicle Battery Charger/Maintainer and consider the product. I have this installed on my toad. It works as advertised and I would make the same purchase again.

YES!
Like most all brake systems, the toad battery operates the toad brake should a "disconnect" occur.

You may have to hook your toad brake direct to the battery - depends on the design of the toad brake system

guess I should have mentioned we have a Ready Brake that requires no 12v source to operate.

I have a switch on the #8 fuse on my HHR and have pulled it for 4 days straight, with no battery problem.
The HHR battery does power the Led dash light in the MH to show when the BrakeMaster air brake cylinder is working.

I just used thge center pin on my 6 wire connector to run the moho's 12v power to the toad battery, this way it will keep it charged forever.

The only issue is you'll have no power in the toad. If you don't need it for powering any brake system you may have, I see no issues.
I had one of these on my previous coach. VERY easy to disconnect the battery by simply turing the knob.

My book specifies a fuse to pull when towing. You don't say what your tow is but it's possible that your book would have a suggestion in it.
